Toijala Senior Secondary

Our school has about 150 pupils and 17 teachers. The history of our school goes back to 100 years, so we will be celebrating our centenary in October.

Our school is a small general senior secondary school. Most of the groups are small and the learning environment is good. Although we accept almost all the applicants (minimum average grade 7.0), we have obtained good results in the matriculation examinations.

The school provides a wide selection of languages. In addition to English, it has been possible to take the advanced syllabus in German, French and Swedish. This school year the pupils can study Russian as well if they chose it in the upper level comprehensive. Pupils have also been able to choose German, French
or Russian as an elective language (B3 language) when starting studying at this school.

We are cooperating with neighbouring municipalities' senior secondary schools in EPO-network to offer common courses in this area. This autumn we started teaching via video negotiation equipment.

Together with our neighbour senior secondary school we have provided entrepreneurial courses consisting of lectures and visits organised by Akaa Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The China network project organised by the Finnish National Board of Education has been enhancing the internationality of our school for a few years.
