Vaskivuori Upper Secondary

Vaskivuori School is situated in Vantaa, a city bordering the Finnish capital, thus having excellent connections within the metropolitan area. In the Finnish context Vaskivuori school is exceptionally big since some 850 students between 16-19 years of age and more than 50 full time teachers have their academic home in Vaskivuori.

The school offers a particularly extensive general studies programme, with special emphasis on science and computer skills, as well as a wide choice of foreign languages. Separate programmes are offered to those interested in music, dance or media studies. Courses in music include choral singing, ensemble playing in classical music and rock’n’roll, as well as recording techniques and musical theory. Some 20 students are enrolled in the dance programme and they have an important role in the musical performances the school enjoys during the academic year. Our latest pride is the media programme which became part of the curriculum in August 2006. The students in the programme have the opportunity to study all traditional forms of media: printed media, radio and television. The students also publish a web based newspaper.

Vaskivuori has international sister schools in several cities throughout the world: Kuressaari in Estonia, Kassel in Germany, Reading in United Kingdom and Jinan in China.
